REVIEW

After a long time, I have returned for reviews. I love Aadi movies (at least the ones I watched till now). He knows how to have fun with the movie even if the story is kind of average at times. But I decided to watch this because the heroine that starred in Masterpiece (Kannada movie), Shanvi Srivastava is his female lead here. I saw her first in that Kannada movie and didn't like her role in that movie. But I decided to give her role a second chance. I will go in detail later but the short version is "I like her performance and character in this". The story is simple to grasp and the complication is silly and stupid. The complication is "Aadi  fucks Shanvi's childhood so he tries to hide the fact that he is her childhood friend through some comedic-ish moments".

The story is average at best. It tries to be something new but it lacks some of the creativity as majority of the scenes are seen in other films (most of which I have seen). This was a huge disappointment for me as I was expecting some enjoyable and funny moments with Aadi and Shanvi Srivastava. The movie is enjoyable but is rarely funny. The jokes were dull and none of the comedic scenes go anywhere. I never expected this from an Aadi film. Aadi's friends are the main comic relief and they are irritating. One of the friend purposefully screws Aadi just to get audience to laugh. What friend does this? What was the point of it? It doesn't create any conflict, forwards the story or generate a laugh. It's there only to give artificial tension and a desperate attempt at getting the audience to laugh. Not only that, just when the story was getting to a tolerable climax, it gives the most forced, so obvious that you need to be an infant to not recognize it, ending. It doesn't make any sense and I can only assume that even the writer didn't know how to end it so he just slapped this turd on the film. To point any positives about the story, his attempts at impressing Shanvi Srivastava and him trying to hiding the fact that he fucked up her childhood to her was tolerable to watch. There are enjoyable scenes there but it is surrounded by scenes that make no logical sense. Except for a few scenes in the second half, the film generally has very little entertainment to offer to viewers.

In terms of performance and character development, I liked the performance yet it starts to lose the emotion required to care about Aadi and Shanvi Srivastava. Most of this is due to the fact that the roles they play are shit. Their performance is good but their roles are shit. How many times have you seen such a character? It is so repetitive that it starts to lose the emotion required to care for the main protagonist. In one scene, he even tries to imitate his real life father. But he needs to do more homework while doing comic and emotional scenes. Shanvi Srivastava is the contradiction. Shanvi suits her character. She emotes well in the emotional scene during the second half. She also manages to look glamorous in the songs. She does so much better here than in Masterpiece. Vennela Kishore irritates as the gay guy and Tagubotu Ramesh does another drunkard in the film. But Saptagiri does manage to leave his mark in the brief role. Saptagiri is the best comic role in the movie though his role was short.

In conclusion, this movie is a romantic comedy that has very little romance and very little comedy. In the end, it becomes a boring and routine cinema that should have been made years ago. An average yet stupid second half cannot compensate for a very slow first half. I repeat what I said earlier, I like Aadi movies because he has so much fun in his movies and we enjoy it even if I am given an average story. He knows how to set up a fun atmosphere but it fails here. It tries to be funny and romantic but when you don't even care for the characters then how will we get the emotion to feel for them. If a director wants to make a love story, he should be confident of taking the audience along on the journey. They must be able to feel the love and they must feel the emotions of separation and reunion. Since it’s a love story, one already knows how the story will end. So, it is up to the director to make the journey as interesting as possible. But Ravi Chavali (Director) simply wraps up in a hurry with random scenes. The second half is definitely better than the first half. A few songs and certain scenes help the film from falling flat. Had the director showed the tension and passion in the right measures, it would have helped the film in a big way. Though the story had the potential, the director fails to make the narration interesting.

Hence I would not recommend this for anyone. There are other films, better average storied films that are more worthy of your time. I don't know about you but I will definitely stay away from this film for a long time.
